About “The Most Dangerous Game”

What began as an attempt to create an audiobook of Richard Connell’s famous story soon transitioned into a murky, sonic odyssey which - ultimately - drew more inspiration from Romantic-era tone poems than listen-as-you novels.

This 33 minute work was crafted from over 4 hours of improvisations designed around minimalistic motives and sonic threads. The music itself mimics many of the sounds that could be imagined when reading this famous story - the mechanical noises of the boat the narrator finds himself on in the beginning of the story, the rustling of leaves, and the wild, unpredictable violence of the island, amongst many others.
